Difficulties in memorising when studying?How can i stop this?

I am studying for my Gcse exams for Nov.but however whatever i read i tend to forget and sometimes when im studying i have to repeat reading or cram .So what should i do to get the info in my head and get As ?pliz help ur tips are greatly appreciated.
